They're purple and a few days ago rock hard but are soft and squishy now. I don't want to let Mrs Herself bite into one because apparently there's nought nastier than an unripe plum so I need a non-destructive plum-ripeness tester.
raspberry-pi + diy spectrometer(ir/visible) + lots of taste-testing/grimacing?
-
You could mail it to me, but I would be a destructive plum-ripeness tester.
-
If you ask people to pinch your plums and you get slapped, then they are definitely ripe. (or was it fresh... hmmm)
-
>destructive
Thanks but, alas, no. :(
One is going wrinkly. A taste-test is surely imminent....

One is going wrinkly.
Have you been letting the cool breeze from the trossacks play around your plums again Ken? With the nights closing in you really need to keep them well covered at all times.
Of course, aged plums will always have a tendency towards purple and wrinkly. Are they Victorias?

this thread is awesome. A little disgusting, but awesome :D

Are they Victorias?
You must mean Victor's?

*sigh* nevermind

The plums may be Victoria's but the're mine now.
Nice fleshy texture but [awaiting robr punification]tastes like a tattie[/robr pun-wait], apparently. Oh, well.
