i have very limited experience in cooking these and i haven't even had one at an actual restaurant, but what i made was edible so i guess things went ok. i followed this recipe: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/maindishentreerecipes/r/BlackBeanBurger.htm
after frying it keeps its patty shape better, looks burger-ish, and generally tastes like you would expect a bean patty to taste like. once it's in paste form it takes 10 minutes to cook, so it's relatively convenient to eat. next time i'll try adding egg to help it cohere better
anyone try to cook one?

I think I might prefer a burger made out of hamburger meat...
I'm not much of a bean guy anyway.

Customer: "What is this on my plate waiter?"
Waiter: "It's bean burger sir."
Customer: "I don't care what it's been, what is it now?"

I like to think that if it doesn't have meat in it it isn't a burger of any kind!

it's a matter of semantics... it doesn't matter whether it's a burger or not. what would you think if you called it a grilled black bean sandwich?

its barely earned pattie, lets not drag the poor sandwiches into it
