CAD (Computer Aided Design) people?
« on: October 03, 2007, 12:37:19 AM »
I'm designing my new watercooling system, and i have a really rough drawing on paper of it. I'm wondering if we have anyone here who could look at a scan of my drawling and make a "cutaway" model of the side and front view to help me out. I dont know how hard CAD is, or how much time that would take, so if need be im willing to paypal some cash over.

I can provide a link to the case itsself ontop of my drawling, but the rest is custom parts so no pics. It just needs to be a good cutaway of my drawing, ie the real look.
hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?

Have you tried Sketchup?

http://sketchup.google.com/

It's a pretty simple CAD-like thing. I've used it for designing workbenches, studio designs, room layouts etc. You can import a picture and design around it.

It is really cool.  I am not any good at it yet, but Ober rocks at it.  It now has a handy tutorial.

Anyone know what the pay version gives you over the free?

Pay version give you very little more. Unless you're a pro you don't need it.

I got hooked on the app before Google bought them. I was hanging out in a recording studio forum and everyone used that program instead of pictures. I've got my whole house modeled with it (accurately too) which took a bit of time but is great for pretending to do remodel stuff and working on ideas.
