The Social Network

Surprised nobody posted this here yet (maybe we're not really reviewing movies much anymore).

I liked it. I think Inception should win Best Movie over this, but that doesn't mean this wasn't a really enjoyable flick. Fast paced, interesting, exciting (as much as this kind of movie can really be). Before seeing it I was apprehensive about Eisenberg and Timberlake in their respective roles, but both did pretty well.

8/10

Just watched this over the weekend.  My wife and I enjoyed it.  I'm curious about how much of it was BS though.  We looked up the Napster kid on Wikipedia and apparently he said it was very fictional.

Checkout the Sorkin interviews about it on YouTube. Theres clearly a lot of BS in there inspired by reality...

I'd post links but I'm on my on my phone (enjoying tapatalk).

There was an article about Zuckerberg in Time that talked a little about the real story. Sounds like it was true in a basic sense, but things were condensed and the characters were characters more than representations of the real people. Like the party the Napster guy was in at the end had totally different circumstances, but the basic idea was correct.

It's always annoying to me when they don't try to be exact in telling real stories, but I guess if you treat like a story and not a re-enactment it's cool.

IIRC Zuckerberg didn't really want to help them out with the story since it wasn't going to portray him in a flattering light, so I can see why some parts would be fictional

Then again I haven't seen the movie so what do I know

It portrays him as a bit of an asshole but I don't think that part is made up.

I had a friend working at facebook when the movie came out. Apparently they had a screening at facebook, but Zuckerberg told everyone that the story wasn't accurate.

I like the movie though, it was interesting to see how all the business and legal stuff played out.

I think the big untruth was the fact that he actually had a steady girlfriend throughout the story timeline instead of being a lonely recluse obsessing over an ex.

Great movie btw, wish it had won best picture.  I wasn't a huge fan of the Kings Speech.
