Title: Fallout 4
Post by: Jake on November 17, 2015, 09:16:30 PM
Weird coincidence: a few weeks ago I was talking to someone my age about video games from our high school days - and of course, Fallout and Fallout 2 were one of those games that I played through multiple times and what made me miss multiple homeworks. Skip a few days, and I see a Fallout 4 advertisement on top of a taxi cab!! so I googled it, and here it is...fallout 4. It is the only game in a few years now I am considering buying. Are any of you playing?

Sorry, been too busy playing it to post about it.

Now if you'll excuse me these settlements aren't going to build themselves and the super mutants aren't going to explode their own heads.

Meh... I never got into the Fallout games.  I'm still too busy playing BF4 and the new stuff they're coming out with.

Unlike Obes I can play more than one game.

BOOOM!

Yeah FO4 is a blast.  Could not be more pleased with it.  They knocked it out of the park in every way that matters and a couple others.  Still a little Bethesda buggy, but spam F5 and you will be fine.  Alt Tab works fine and CTD is still around but rare.

They have added some nice new mechanics that add a bit of depth to it and the map thus far seems pretty huge.  The leveling system, once you get the hang of it, is great.

You can use your WiFi Apple or Android device as a real world Pip-Boy and it works better than the integrated version.

Dunno how many hours the game has in it but I would guess in the 200+ hour range with plenty of DLC to come.

little Bethesda buggy
It wouldn't be a Bethesda game without their bugs

@Knuck, I do typically play more than 1 game at once.  I just have a pretty defined genre and type of game that I like the most.... and that happens to be Battlefield.  And when I only play maybe 5-6 hours/week, that doesn't leave a lot of time for other games.

Don't you back talk me MISTER!   :nyd:

FYI looks like BF2 for the black Friday LAN party....you are invited!  It is in Hagerstown.

Also if you are coming out this way, I wanna furry hug.

That seems pretty innovative and also damn cool. are any other games doing something similar?

It also drains the battery FAST!

Leave it connected to the USB to get around the battery issue.  I still can't believe how responsive it is.

With BF4 you can use an alternate device to change loadouts and stuff.

I'm generally don't use power armor since my MO is stealth but I played around with it yesterday.  OMG the graphics of the rain hitting the power armor is freaking awesome.  Looked so much like rain hitting glass.  I was blown away.

I have heard that there is a quarry later in the map that has stunning mist graphics.  I am only level 16 and really haven't used the power armor past the mission where they shove you into it.

Never shoot the hood of the car next to you. I've learned, 3 broken limbs later.

Yeah.  Shoot the car for sure.  Just be far away and watch the badass explosion.  Never gets old.

Shooting cars from a vertbird is a ton of fun!

So I'm warming up to power armor a bit more in this game.  You can sneak in it and jumping off of tall places is a ton of fun!

I'll say this: If you are a sneak and shoot person like me, go get MacCready as a companion and max out the affinity.  You'll get a perk that increases VATS accuracy for headshots by 20%.  Combine that rank 3 of the sniper perk and I can take heads off far easier than anything else.  So many heads a popping!

Yup.  Don't go far without the power armor now.

I dig the whamwhump from heavy landings.

I have been base building a bit.  Make sure you perk into linking your bases!!  The toughest resource to gather for me is oil.

I think this evening I am going to to wandering rather than base building or following a mission.  Right now I play STO and FO4 almost exclusively.
