Awesome flick.  I may have to get the book (it was modeled after a book, right?).  I don't really have much to add to that... it was just a good movie, IMO.

  8/10

I hear the movie is nothing like the book.  Only thing they share in common is a title and robots

Fun fact: Will Smith's character is loosely based on the exploits of Isaac Asimov.

You should definitely get the books, but they're not very similar to the movie, really.

It's a good movie, but 'I Robot' takes product placement to a new level.

The movie blew and had nothing to do with the book. There were several books around the characters, and the robot ended up in Asimov's Foundation trilogy, a classic of science fiction.

>>Foundation trilogy<<

From whence came the Encylopaedia Galactica (later outsold only by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ;) ), Trantor(?) - the planet that's a city (Star Wars Corusant(?) is a direct lift) and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. The only thing the movie had in common was the theme of 'detective' story which, essentially, Asimov's robot stories seemed to me to be about.

The whole point of the three laws of robotics, IIRC, was their infallibility - most of the robot books explore them at some point or other so how the movie suits could have decided that was a usable plotline defies credibility.
