Awesome fucking book. One of his best yet IMO. I can't put it down. I'm about 3/4 of the way through. I should be able to finish it in the next week or so (it's ~1000 pages).
Fantastic book idea, great character development, rich storyline, twists, turns... it has it all.

What's the premise of this one? I've seen it on the shelves but haven't had a proper look
I picked up a couple of his this summer: Cell & Blaze. When I was a kid I used to read as much of his stuff as I could
-
I read a good portion of it and stopped reading it for some reason. It is definitely a lot better than his recent things
The premise is that a small town in Maine (go figure!) is suddenly isolated under a giant, impenetrable, invisible dome

I work at a place like that!

Yeah except they let you come and go every day.

I don't exactly remember. I got it right after I got my Kindle so I had some pretty hardcore book ADD
edit: I was 17% in

I finished it about a week ago. Pretty good book. Probably one of his best that I have read.
I wasn't crazy about how the book ended but I guess it makes sense.
-
I was reading a thread on SA about Stephen King and I guess he's said in interviews that he just sort of writes without planning things out since he got successful. In the earlier books he actually planned everything and that's why his older stuff has better endings.
-
i've only read a few of his books. i was always disappointed by the endings. e.g. the ending of The Stand. completely ridiculous...

Well there is a note from the Author at the end of this one that said he originally started writing this one back in 1976. He got about 75 pages in and stopped because he got overwhelmed. There are a lot of characters and shit to keep track of. Hell, he'll go 50 pages without coming back to a storyline in this one. My wife just started it and she's getting a little frustrated with it but I told her it's gets easier further in.

Salem's Lot is still his best...Dead Zone was good too so I remember...and Different Seasons is still about the best collection of stories I have read
-
I thought Dead Zone was pretty dumb. The Stand or It were probably my favorites.

I liked it better than both of those...ah well, each to their own
-
He's written so many books that everyone is bound to have a different favorite.
I also read all of his stuff when I was a teenager, so take that for what it's worth
-
Before this one, I'd say It was probably very high on the list for me. Out of the ones I've read, I'd say the Gunslinger is probably the worst. Insomnia is high on my list. I haven't read the Stand yet.
I'd say Desperation is probably right above The Regulators (which makes sense really). Dreamcatchers is probably middle of the line.
-
Insomnia is really good, especially if you take it in the context of the Dark Tower series, but I suppose you'd have to enjoy the Gunslinger for that. (Wastelands was awesome too)

Not sure I managed all of them but I had a pretty good stab at reading them all too
-
I don't think I've read a complete book by him since his accident though
-
I read Cell a while back. That wasn't bad.
I agree that his best period was early on, but he still writes entertaining stuff ...mostly
-
The worst thing I've heard that he's done was a book that was kindle-only about a author that received a haunted kindle
