Odd Musical Mod.
« on: April 18, 2005, 11:56:19 PM »
So I had this set of speakers lying around. Not bad speakers, but a bit old and worn. I also had an old ATX board with an AMD K6 on it and enough parts to put something together. Hmm...
One speaker now houses the system (while keeping the speaker functional) and the other speaker is..well, just the other speaker. The thing is, the only sound cards I have lying around are soundblaster 16's or something just as dated. So, I have a couple of questions...
What older sound card should I snag (probably on Epay) that'll be better than what I have but not overkill (read: cheap but effective)?
I'm thinking (obviously) about this pretty much being a dedicated music machine, but I'm also going to connect it to my network, and maybe set it up as an FTP server as well. I'm thinking maybe FreeBSD for an OS..any thoughts?
Leave the gun. Take the canolis.
