hunting blind/fort for the kids
« on: July 02, 2019, 11:00:58 AM »
Another project I'm working on while the family is out. Most of the year it will be a fort for the kiddos and during hunting season I will use it as a blind. I build the platform last fall and just put a pop-up blind on top of it. This year I'll be hunting in comfort!

But this was super challanging - not the technical aspect, as it is a very basic structure - but doing it alone. I prefabbed the walls in the garage and then had to lift them up onto the platform which is almost 6 and a half feet of the ground. Once I did that I had to get the plywood up to cover the walls and that was perhaps even harder. But hey, I managed to do it!

I still have some things to do to finish it, but the weather is not cooperating. Still need to make a door and waiting on the windows (hence no cutouts in the plywood yet). The windows should arrive in a couple of weeks.

I'm also planning to add a solar panel next year and a deep cycle marine battery to have some juice as needed :)

haha, yep, I can't wait for both of them to do the heavy lifting in a few years. We are going to do the inside and painting together when they come back.

Awww geez, I read that part last night and thought, what a cool idea.  Then today I saw this post like 3 more times and randomly thought to ask about power, completely forgetting that I read that.  My bad.  My brains been a little off lately.  I probably should have gone to bed at 6 this morning.
