COVID-19 exercise thread
« on: April 05, 2020, 10:09:27 AM »
What are you all doing to keep active?

I managed to buy an old bench with bench press rack for $100. Then a friend let me borrow a couple of barbells (one straight and one bent) and a bunch of plates (he had upgraded to an olympic bar and rubber plates). So happy I can still get a in a good workout in my garage since the gyms closed.

My friend is also posting workout challenges. Not really my thing but I figured I'd give it a try. This week's challenge was 100 burpees for time (as fast as you can). I did it in just under 10 minutes. I felt pretty rough after though!

I'm also trying to get out on my bike. I've managed two bike rides in the past two weeks. Need to find some more time for that.

Then of course, there's just "keeping up with the kids". Yesterday my kids wanted to go out on their scooters. So I grabbed my rollerblades which I haven't used in years and went around the block 4 times with them. So much fun.

Mowing lawn x 2 per week.  Walking and my trusty Concept 2 rowing machine.

I think we're at least a month off of lawn mowing season here :D

I'd love to add a concept 2 to my garage gym... great machine.

Winter is my lawn's growing season.  Which makes the months where it only rains on the weekends super fun for lawn maintenance

Yeah, rowing machines are great and I wish I had one right about now.

Oddly enough we sold our stationary bike and got a treadmill over the winter.  Couldn't have been better timing.  I have been running/speed walking on that thing.  I actually just finished a steps challenge for insurance rewards this past week.  I need to step it up tho.  I've gained weight since being home :(
