bachelor for a month
« on: September 29, 2012, 05:12:44 AM »
Back from two weeks in Poland, and beginning a month's wait until my family gets back (4 am and can't sleep). Here is my "to do" list until they get back:

-paint ceilings in kitchen and dining room
-refresh kitchen cabinets around the sink area
-paint the walls in the hallway
-refresh the back door
-strip and resurface wooden stairs
-re grout tile stair
-paint stair wall going to the basement
-replace caulk around bath tubs
-clean/replace grout around tubs in bathrooms
-paint wooden siding above garage door
-raise our bed and add drawers
-make new dining room table with ability to extend
-some other little shit

This list should keep me busy through the month :p

Or you could sit around in your underware, drink beer and play video games.

I accept the challenge. :D

Here are a few more things to add:
-prepare the yard for the winter (trim everything, hide yard furniture, hoses, etc)
-change broken drop ceiling in laundry room to drywall

pretty productive weekend. Also cleaned out my workshop in the basement, and pickled some pickles!

I wouldn't be able to stand that. I grew up where the nearest neighbor was a mile in any direction.

this week was painting week. I painted the ceilings and the hallway. Now I know why I waited this long to do it, it was a lot of fucking work. Holy shit. three fucking nights and today to hand everything back up. And I still didn't hang the mirror. And wow was the baseboards and the bottom peace scratched up and scuffed up. Fuck. But it is done, and it came out pretty damn good - I'm happy with the results. And the paint with primer worked out great too.

the color is "milk & toast" by valspar. I got a gallon can expecting to do two coats. But needed only one, and used about a 1/4 of the can...

me too. I brought home 7 that I liked and my wife picked out the final one :) worked out pretty good  I know some couples that take months (really!) to settle on a color.
