Title: FF Non-Keeper 2010
Post by: charlie on September 08, 2010, 10:11:13 PM
So the Non-keeper league we set up at Yahoo ran a draft today, so I say we go ahead and play the year out. Well, I'm going to anyway.

League Page (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/491950)
Draft Results (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/491950/draftresults)

It ran an auction draft so the results are pretty interesting. Henry (WonderPets) pre-ranked his players since he wasn't going to draft manually, so he got both Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson.

Holy shit I spent $10 on a kicker... and another $1 on a backup kicker later.

I drafted a rookie with the 8th overall pick?

edit: Sebastian Janikowski is still in the league?

Wow, I spent 9 dollars on a kicker, then spend another 4 on a backup kicker.

I'll let my team play out but to be honest I doubt I'll pay much attention to it partially because my team's top three players are a second rounder and two fourth rounders and partly because I just joined a random ESPN auction league.

Technically he was 9th pick (9th highest auction amount). In my other league the auto-draft gave him to me at 10th, so I guess Yahoo thinks he'll be good.

He was awesome in college and I know he's highly rated, but I'm really wary of a top 10 rookie pick.  I think he went early 2nd round in my other league, which still seems really early.

So did an auction draft last night with about 7 other experienced players and a couple bots and I must say it was a lot of fun.  Ton more strategy involved with a lot of variation.  Some people spent tons of money up front to get studs then had to settle for crap on the backend while others saved money and got a ton of value for players like Ahmad Bradshaw for only a buck or two.  Plus you got to drive up the prices on some players that you never really wanted, just needed to keep your fingers crossed that you didn't get stuck.

You definately need to know a bit more about the players though, otherwise once you got past the obvious names you'd likely get lost on what to do.  Also, you really need to attend the draft because the bots outright suck.   I ended up spending 70 bucks on Adrian Peterson which was a bit high, but got great deals on Shonn Green, Steve Smith, and the Chargers rookie RB.

WTF?  I can't drop DeShaun Jackson?  Last few weeks I haven't been able to drop Pierre Thomas.  Yahoo's fucking up this year.  I don't care how well they've done, guys who are going to miss multiple games shouldn't be on the don't drop list...

The can't cut lists are usually set before the season starts in baseball and football and aren't changed throughout..  I've always hated those things.

Thomas just came off if it, so it's somehow based on past few weeks performance...it's bullshit.

especially in football where one or two weeks is such a huge deal

Isn't there a setting to ignore those lists?  Commish?

Fuck... I'm not even in this league.  Not sure why I even commented.

In my other yahoo league, it's one of the settings and I'm betting you can set the 'provider' of the list to 'none.

Yeah, you can change the settings I'm pretty sure. I don't know how much PJ is following this, though.

And there's nothing wrong with commenting on somebody else's league. ;)

So I lost to Micah's second team (your wife? I forget) even though that team had two players starting that were on IR. This was not my day in esink leagues. :(

Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson has to outscore Matt Forte by over 11.2 points or GovCampbell's 8-5 team is going to upset my co-worker's 12-1 team to advance to the finals of this league where only a few people actually tried.
