So, apparently Azure Active Directory is not Active Directory on Azure. So, a lot of the things we "need" AD for still requires on-premise infrastructure even if we have Azure.
I was looking forward to getting rid of more servers at the office :(

That's silly. But can't you just run your own on Azure if you need the extra features?

I'm not 100% sure as I'm not an AD expert. From the research it sounds like no. You need an on-premise for some of the traditional AD features but can use Azure to cloud manage it.

Huh... that's odd. Maybe it's different requirements. We only have Azure/AD in the cloud and it does everything we need.
