Title: Local Beer
Post by: micah on August 23, 2018, 09:56:04 PM
I'm not a huge beer guy but I know a lot of people are so thought this might be an interesting thread.

What's your favorite local brew?

Tonight I'm having a few of these, named after our local AAA baseball team: https://hookerbeer.com/beers/nectar-of-the-goats/

Great Lakes Brewery (https://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/) makes a few good ones here in Cleveland.  There's also a place about 20 min from me called Sibling Revelry that makes a few good ones (http://siblingrevelrybrewing.com/).

My (current) local faves are Abe Erb (brew pub, but the sell in store too), and Innocente (walking distance from my house :) ). There's also a nice brewery called Collective Arts that put local artists' work on their cans https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/

I have yet to have anything less than spectacular.

Also if you use the Untappd app SplashDamage Brewing is pretty solid.

Bell's and Founders are the big guns in Michigan and both have lots of great beers.  Old Nation has made a huge splash with their NEIPAs and they're fantastic too.  My favorite local ones are Drafting Table and Ascension.  MI has so many good breweries.

Ellison Brewing in Lansing is owned by my brother in law's cousin so it's basically like I own a brewery.  They're really good too.  One time I went there and almost got into the wrong Uber.  Welp, cya

Went to a local beer fest yesterday.  Confirmed that Sibling Revelery is still damn good and some of the other local ones... not so much.  I feel tricked when a beer tastes good going down and then the after taste is just awful.

The finish on some beer is truly horrifying eh?  I could tell you a story about a lobster beer that might keep you up at night.

Wish you were local on the 6th.  The Quad State Beerfest is epic.  Not too big, not too small, awesome crowd and great food to go with great beer.

Oh man sometimes the food is the best part.  I think there were 7 or 8 food trucks at this one over the weekend.  I had a really good pulled pork sandwich.

We just bottled an Orange Blossom honey mead that turned out as good as and better than anything we have yet purchased.  Yums.

Typically the Quad State has a jerked chicken booth we can't get enough of.
