but back on topic, I don't think I would have a use from a device like the pebble - but I can see where others might - I think it'll do alright.

I wore a watch religiously until a few years ago when the last one broke.  Since then I just haven't seen the point since I always have my phone.

you're probably right - but it is a habit type of thing.

Also, about half the people in my Chicago office wear a watch.

Phone + computer + laptop + wall clock + ....

Time keeping devices are every where, why would a person need another on their wrist?

I've always worn a watch.  This is my current one minus the diamonds:

My wife got it for me before we were married so I've had it for close to 9 years or so.  I actually glance at it quite a bit.  I do take it off when I'm typing and it comes off as soon as I get home, but as long as I'm out it is on my wrist.  I feel naked without it.

> So you're now trying to get people to wear something that they've already ditched.

A few months ago I heard a story that watch wearing is actually on the rise in some demographics but mostly for fashion.  If people decide these look cool enough they might start wearing them

I feel really strange if I don't have my watch on at work - I rarely forget it, and if I do I usually make a trip back to get it. However, once I get home, it comes right off. I've been wearing a watch since I was in my teens - albeit not the same one!

I have a Citizen EcoDrive - I got it from my folks 5 or 6 years ago on my birthday. It is really great.

I always wear a watch when I'm out. Mine's a citizen EcoDrive too! Awesome watch, I've had it for years and no battery replacement necessary (it charges from external light/sunlight for you non-watch people that don't know what an EcoDrive is).

I didn't realize watches were becoming less common. I hadn't really noticed (though I never really looked for it).

>The first part would be kind of cool, I guess, until everyone buys their google glasses

I'm not totally sold on google glasses. People look retarded trying to focus on the glass. Apparently it also makes people feel nauseous if you wear it too long and you need to "learn" how to wear them.

Either way, Pebble and google glasses are both part of a trend towards wearable computing. It will be interesting to see what kind of crap companies try to get us to walk around in over the next few years.

has your charge ever gone down from max after the initial charge up? Mine has not - and that I think is pretty cool :)

There's no clock in my car, I can't see my bedroom clock from my bed when I have stuff piled in front of it, sitting in the dining room on one side of the table leaves no visible clock, my phone/iPod are always in my pocket.

There are plenty of times when a watch would be most convenient. But I stopped wearing one when I had kids. If I'm not wearing it all the time it's hard for me to wear one at all, and I couldn't wear one while taking care of the baby for fear of scratching her, so...

Your car doesn't have a clock?  Even the most ancient of POS cars had a crappy clock.  The others are just personal failures of yours :D  And if the phone/ipod is in your pocket then you have a clock with you.

Edit: I'm not saying that a watch isn't more convenient than the phone.  I just dislike wearing them and once I realized I was surrounded by time keeping devices I stopped worrying about wearing a watch.

My first car didn't have a clock, but anything I've driven made since the early 90s has.  Is your car my old 86 Chevy Celebrity station wagon?

For watch wearers:  Which wrist do you wear it on?  When I used to wear them I wore it on the left wrist as that was my off hand.

My wife always wears a watch too - but she wears it on the right.
