Particular reason, or do company names with only 3 vowels in 2 words offend?

The name sounds familiar but I can't really place it. Did HP and SBC have a bastard child?

my wife had a packard bell back in 1998. It was a POS.

i always assumed that they merged w/ someone and became the modern HP that we all know and love today. was i wrong and they are not related?

It's an NEC knock off.  My girlfriend bought it about 2-3 years ago.  It was fucking up big time so I replaced a few parts (well as many as I could) and reinstalled XP, but I can't find the sound driver for it.  The beauty of it is, the company that sold her the PC didn't give her any media..no copy of XP, no copy of drivers or anything on CD-ROM.  It's driving me nuts!!
