walkie talkies
« on: September 10, 2008, 03:04:03 PM »
Work is looking for a good set for carpool duty.  Something that can be used for 30 minutes or so every day (rain or shine) and take some abuse.  Nothing too fancy because they'll often be used by technophobes.  Anyone have a particular set they've had a lot of success with?

Thanks

Seriously though...Amazon do a few of them for pretty cheap. Might be worth buying some cheap ones and see how they work out

hehe

We've already got a couple pairs which are getting ready to go (apparently 1 set is now only 1 way).  Anything where we can set the channels and forget it will work, I'm scouting amazon now...

Look nice, but those are a bit pricier than what we're looking for.   Think family vacation in the $25-75 range...

I hear the barbie funtime pack is great for those long rides in the family minivan.

I had the GI-Joe set when I was a kid.  Had a Morse code legend on it too.

There are several sets of  MWAs around work and they get treated pretty poorly and are often in high heat.  I know that the are at least four years old now and short of a few missing (lost) belt clips, they work perfectly.  They really do well for all of the electrical and mechanical interference at our plant.  Clear too.

I am not sure what series we have.

So we have the talkabouts...and they're already breaking - after 5-10 minuts of continueous outdoor use they're automatically reseting whenever you push the talk buttons...I can't find a pattern.  Any ideas as to why/how to fix?
