Well, that is from Overstock... they say if there is something wrong with it, I can return it, but most companies have a tolerance for dead pixels... like my current (dead) monitor has/had 3 dead pixels, but one of them is green and almost in the middle of the screen (annoying).

I'm almost think it is worth it to get the piece of mind from Amazon or TD.

The one that is linked from Overstock... it's a 19" LG with 2ms response time.  Great reviews all around.

I've never seen or used an LG monitor before... so this will be different.

In my experience LG always makes solid computer hardware, and their cell phones are pretty good so i wouldnt be too concerned.

I knew I was going to hate this monitor.  I shouldn't have ever bought it.  I don't get what the fucking craze is with widescreen monitors!?  You lose a TON of vertical space and very few applications are designed to work well on a wide-screen monitor.  You just end up with a bunch of lost space.

Not to mention that the picture leaves something to be desired and it took me 20 minutes of fucking around with the AWFUL menu controls to get the picture half decent.  And talk about a worthless fucking manual with even worse fucking PDFs for "guides" inside.

GAHHHHH... I'm just pissed that I have to return it and get something decent.  All I really want is my fucking Viewsonic monitor to work again!  I LOVED THAT MONITOR!

Get a rotatable widescreen.  Or simply do it with software.  Lots of vertical space that way.

i like my widescreen.  :dunno:

i can see more than one open window at the same time -- like code view and browser.

Fuck it... bought this one after some research this morning:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116094

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GODDAMN WIDESCREEN MONITORS?

Because widescreens are superior.

He is right Obe.  The day of the square seems to be at an end.  I don't mind so much.  Gaming this way is vastly superior.

But why?  How is it superior?  You say it is but you don't give a reason.  I gamed on my new one last night and it didn't look as nice... seemed a little squashy even though the resolution was set as the default resolution for my monitor.

And I don't see the advantage for regular computing either.  Most websites are setup at a defined width so you end up with a lot of wasted space.  I don't like running with minimized windows so I wouldn't get any advantage there.  The only other advantage I could see is when coding and there wouldn't be as much word-wrap... but the screen is shorter so I lose some of the vertical scope without scrolling.

It's not like it gives you a wider range of view when gaming either.  I just don't see any advantages.
