So today I had some fun.  We switched over to the new email system using Google Apps.  So we had fun trying to explain how mail will be delivered the next few days as we had to change the MX record.  Luckily it only effected our tech team so it was a bit easier.

But after the switch over I found out that I hadn't included our webserver in the whitelist for relaying emails to outside domains.  Then as I looked through the logs and through the archiving logs I noticed that a lot of spam hits our system.  The original plan was to just archive it, send it to google, and let google filter it.  The problem was that all the spam going to the domain was going to accounts that don't exist.

So in the span of a couple hours I had to figure out how to query google to see if the address was allocated, cache those results, and test it without the use of a test box (the test box is currently being wiped and reloaded).

All in all it was a fun day

I have read that twice and I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.  :)

Trust me, you don't really want to know.  Email == pain in the ass

I've been gone all weekend. At a wedding in new Jersey.  spent most of my time just driving in either heavy traffic or heavy rain.

...did my "unread posts" link stop working again or are we heading into another summer slump?

I know I've been busy lately - we moved a month ago and I only got around to hooking up my personal computer last weekend.  Even so, I feel like I haven't had a minute of free time for the last couple months.  On top of that I've been slammed at work lately and find myself spending my entire workday actually working.

We just moved, too. Process took a month and we still ran out of time. I'm sure I'll be on more now that it's done, though.

I have always despised the process of moving.  I can't think of many typical life acts that I dislike more.

My company got bought out and the new company is going to clamp down on Internet in a big way.  Plus now that it's getting nice out I'm trying to spend less time online

Funny, I can't say that I like the details of it, especially now with a wife who buys things and kids that need things, but since I left my parents house 16 years ago I've lived in 10 different places. This last house was my longest at 4.5 years. I don't like the moving of things, but I do like the feel of starting fresh with an empty house/apartment. I think we've accumulated enough crap that I won't get that feeling again until I'm an old fart, though.
