Inverted scrolling
« on: February 01, 2019, 01:27:56 PM »
I just got a new macbook at work, and the new default is to invert the scroll direction (scroll the content instead of scroll the window). I didn't like it at first but have decided to give it try.

What do you guys prefer, scroll the content or scroll the window?

I HATE inverted scrolling with a mouse to touchpad.  But I'm 100% sure that is because of what I'm used to.

That said, on a tablet with physical gestures it totally make sense.

they started doing this several years ago. I hate it. I immediately turned it off on every mac i've been given.  It makes sense if you're on a touch screen but my old-man-brain can't adjust.  Especially since I use a PC at home (that probably has the option to switch it but I'm not turning it on) and its hard to go back and forth between the two.

I first got used to scrolling the content on my wife's macbook and I am so used to it that I hate scrolling the window on my kids' chromebooks. It feels so much more intuitive to scroll the content but I'm sure that's just because that's what I got used to.

I did it for a day and I'm already used to it. I like the uniformity across devices.

I used to hate inverted scrolling but after getting my newest MBP my brain adjusted to it quickly, probably because of my increased phone usage.

I used to hate the inversion but I'm actually totally onboard with it now.

I wonder if its because I'm left handed that I can't get used to it.  I only use my left hand to swipe on screens but I use my right hand for the mouse (because thats I how I learned to use a computer.)  So perhaps to someone who swipes a screen all the time with their right hand it just feels like a natural gesture on the mouse to do the same  :dunno:

increased phone usage.

Ohhh... So that's why it's more intuitive to me.
