an open source, XML-native platform for developing rich Internet applications that run in any modern Web browser.

ober:
I spout it loud and proud on web design sites I visit: DOWN WITH FLASH.

But I don't know what is so special... I use a variety of this type of functionality in various sites that I run.

Perspective:
It seems like a high level abstraction that allows quick development of flash like features through xml. Writting all the javascript/xml features from scratch would be a lot of work. I guess thats the appeal. If i have some free time this weekend im gonna look into how this works a little more. Ill post back with what i find.

edit:
bah, after a bit of reading this isnt that great after all. It uses a backend servlet to compile swf bytcode and stream that to the client or something. I thought it was independant of swf. boooo

Major_Small:
flash should NEVER be used in web design... I can't stand flash pages... I have to admit though, I have visited some tastefully designed flash pages, but most flash-users like to show off the flashiness of flash...
