Title: Recommend me a Book
Post by: drakkenkorin on October 14, 2009, 08:27:18 AM
Soooo.

I need to get my A+ certification in about 6 months and I need me a study book.

Even though the government has the A+ materials online, I am SHIT when it comes to online courses, which is why I want an actual book to read and write in.

Can any of you recommend one?  Went to the bookstore and there were quite a few ranging in price from $20 to about $80 but since I'm not familiar with the companies that put out these, I didn't know if one was better than the other.

Commence.

Why are you getting the A+ cert?  Did you run out of toilet paper?

Have to get the cert because of the fact that I now have a Admin CAC card that allows me to install and remove programs on computers.

From everything I've read/heard, the A+ cert should be a a breeze for anyone with half a brain.  I don't think you'll go wrong with most of the books on A+ at your typical Borders/Barnes & Noble.

Wait, is the A+ an actual requirement?  Totally lame and worthless.

That's government service for you!

Keep in mind, it is the minimal certification level, but lets pretend I'm gonna go for a time-consuming certification.

I want it quick and easy.

I have a friend who holds an A+ cert who literally couldn't even change out a ram chip or point one out in a photo array. Its an incredibly easy test and even a 5.00 for dummies book can make u an expert on it

really? 'cause like 8 or 9 years ago I started studying for the test and got a little overwhelmed and gave up.  granted I hadn't been working in an IT environment and didn't have professional experience but it still seemed pretty difficult.

but then again, we all know what happens when I attempt to change out RAM

Dammit micah you robbed me of the ram joke :rofl2:

Yea he's my alcoholic horn dog not really a test taker friend and he passed it. This is a guy that wasn't out of that class for a week and needed help at a lan party putting a new hard drive in as a slave.
When I took it I didn't study at all, but I have been taking computers apart and screwing with them since I was 6

The majority of the test is based on your hardware so porn helps
