overheating micro sd card
« on: August 16, 2010, 09:41:28 PM »
My fiance has a ton of photos on her micro sd from her old blackberry she never backed up. That phone was smashed by someone.

The card is in tact but when I stick it in the adapter (via usb or direct to pc) it gets HOT. Instantly so hot I can't touch the thing.

The adapter works with my micro sd cards. I just don't get why a smashed phone could lead to this.

There no way I can retrieve the data is there? Also note the card isn't coming up on the pc before I unplug it.
hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?

Guessing that something has failed shorted internal to the card.  I would guess this is a no recovery situation.

Yeah, I'm with Knuck. Getting too hot to the touch is a fairly good sign that the data has gone to binary heaven. It's spun off the information super-highway. It's been moved to /dev/null. In short, it is no more. It is ex-data.

Rob went all out on those metaphors.  I think that means it's done for.

Yeah, I'd say it bought the farm.  Kicked the bucket.  The fat lady has sang.  It won't 'be back'.

Well...you could probably repair it....

All you need is an electron microscope and a stapler.
