OK, so it was a cheap pun thread title, but still, interesting.

Looks nice so far.

Sadly not in terms of HTML performance, where even the lamest of the lame IE7 soundly thrashes it...

Eh?  What crack have you been smoking.  http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html

I can say from personal expereince using Opera, Firefox, and IE6/7 on a near daily basis that Opera loads and renders the page faster then the others.  Additionally, last I checked it was the only one to pass the CSS rendering tests http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2/

Always seems faster to me.  Might not have been as fast a couple of versions past, but it seems faster to me than IE7.  No contest.  Don't use Firefox enough to be sure.

Opera ownz... but even the link Mike provides didn't have Safari 3 in it and the page says the testing won't be updated.

I'd say it's probably worth a try, but it still can't hold a candle to Opera in terms of functionality.

I realize that the page is old but I didn't feel like finding an updated page.

I'd have to see some independent tests done before I'd consider Opera under performing in any area.

I haven't used Safari 3 but I have used Safari before on Macs and I can't say I was impressed.  Now to be fair it might have been my hatred of the mac influencing my opinion of Safari.

Besides... 99% of the "great reasons to switch" are already in Opera.

No idea about importing FF bookmarks into opera.

Resizable text fields.

Maybe the text field you’re typing in is a bit too small to read. Or maybe you just have a lot to say. Either way, Safari lets you resize text fields on any website, just by grabbing the corner of the field. Resize a field and the web page reflows to make room.
Neat idea, but definately not a reason to switch IMO.

Now I know I'll probably end up downloading it when it is released just so I can test pages with it.

Yo ethic...

What are you importing from?  Check Opera bookmarks they may already have been imported.

if not FF has an "export bookmark" features.  (at least on the mac version it does)

Works fine in Safari.

Additionally, the front page here works in Safari, which it doesn't in IE (layout is barfed) or Opera (top link doesn't work).

Really? I assumed it was busted, I get this...

Pic 1 IE6 (sorry, no IE7 here - as if). Layout completely barfed, but top link works - note cursor

Pic 2 Opera 9 - note cursor - no link to top thread

Pic 3 Safari layout correct and top link works

Also none of the hot topics show up at all.

Not trying to be a Safari fanboi here, I just think it's good to have a choice...
