Ubuntu: Keep one owner/group in a directory tree
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:33:15 PM »
Do any of you know of a good way to always have one owner/group for a directory tree regardless of the creator?  Also have it so that g+w is default in that tree?

The scenario is that the tree is used for the website so I want all the files owned by www-data.  All users will be part of the www-data group.

I really don't want to create a every-minute cron to run chown and chmod :D

I'm shooting in the dark sorta because im not exactly sure what you mean, but i believe you can do it this way. Open a term and run gksudo nautilus. Navigate to the folder in question, and go into the properties.
hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?
