my wife wants us to get it... but we only have "regular" guitar hero so it seems that, to fully enjoy the game, it would be a bit pricey to go out and buy the rock bank set of gear.

I presume the guitar hero controller works w/ rock band though right? so I could just buy her the game and she could play it on guitar only mode... right?

Yeah that works fine. My friend's wife only likes the gh2 controller so she always uses it.

I ended up buying gh:world tour for like 80 bucks to get the rest of the instruments.

I'd get it, but from what I read Rock Band and Guitar Hero aren't compatible on the Wii and I have GH.

Nope, the full band Beatles thing is ludicrously expensive.

I just bought the game on my lunch break. Going to surprise my wife when I get home from work.

I've seen the world tour set for ~$75 like you said. That might be a near future purchase.  Of course, knowing my wife, she'll never play any part other then the lead guitar--- so whats the point? LOL :)

If the price is comparable, get rb2. The peripherals and game are both better

Do you think the beetles version is really worth the tag? I mean just because it's the beatles?

Well the standalone game is the normal $60.  It's the version with the authentic-looking instruments that's more expensive.  And no I don't think that's worth it at all, which is why I bought GH:WT

I can understand the pricing because alot of fans and nuts will pay that, but you would think they would have been more reasonable. If they are authentic i could see paying say, $175 or something but no more then that

Yeah, that'd be a lot better.  I don't think that game stores are ordering that many of the full sets; the Gamestop I bought my copy at said they had only had one of the full sets, and that was a pre-order.
