Topic: Thinking of buying a Honda Ruckus

So ya, I'm thinking of buying a scooter. Odd I know but my brother convinced me it might be fun to buy a Honda Ruckus.

I guess there's quite a scene around modifying these things to make them go faster and turn them more into chopper style bikes. My brother is currently working on one in his garage and has it stretched and is working on tweaking it to get it up to 50+mph. I've been laughing at him for a while about it but after cruising around on it this weekend it's actually sort of fun.

I've been doing a bunch of searching and I think the mod I'd go for is something similar to this one.

That one has an engine swap I believe but otherwise it's mostly just a bunch of frame mods and such to make it look like it's stretched.

Version 1.0 is probably going to be something like this one, then I'll work on the low rider look with a second frame over the winter with my brother.

It's not a super cheap thing, but it might be kind of fun to just get out and bomb around the neighborhood on.

Why not just buy a used bike?  Or are you doing it for the experience of the modding?

Modding and brother bonding mostly. That's part of my hesitation. It's almost completely unpractical other than a small bit of fun. And for the time and money, it might be better just getting a regular cycle. But then you'd miss out on the customization fun. Part of the fun is the in the ride since you can't take the highway. It forces you to find backroads and such and just enjoy being out.

Ya, I'm actually at the point where I'm thinking about getting rid of a few. I don't play as much as I used to due to the gf and dog and other stuff but I have a hard time actually getting rid of anything. And honestly there are only about 2-3 that I'd actually probably sell.

Tangent. I might be putting the Ruckus on hold and buying a coffee roaster instead. Ya, I might have some ADD.
