Well even though I'm still jobless I couldn't help myself from picking up a pair of BX8's from the local used music shop. I've been looking for a pair of desktop speakers for my den but was severely frustrated by the offerings from the PC world. So when I saw these in the shop I thought they'd fit the bill. The problem with all the 2.1 systems at the store was they muddied the sound too much. I must say I'm quite impressed with these too. They will likely find their way to the studio as well. They're biamped 8" near field monitors. The bass isn't quite what you'd get out of a sub system but it's deep enough for listening sessions. Overall, I really like the stuff M-Audio puts out. I think they've got the budget market nailed right now. If anyone is looking for a nice set of monitors these can be found easily for well under $300/pr now.
