Discarded Palin contract sparks investigation
« on: April 14, 2010, 02:51:02 PM »
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A document fished out of a California state university trash bin last week has prompted a state investigation into the university's foundation arm and its refusal to disclose details related to Sarah Palin's upcoming speech at the school.

LOL

so whats the issue making this national news worthy?

is it that Palin's name is in the headline that also contains the word "investigation?" Because as the article (eventually points out) "This is not about Sarah Palin ... The issues are public disclosure and financial accountability in organizations embedded in state-run universities."

or is it that Palin has a rider like every other speaker/celebrity/musician?
"I possess a device, in my pocket, that is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man.  I use it to look at pictures of cats and get in arguments with strangers."

Yeah Sarah Palin's a shitty primadonna but this rider isn't really all that crazy and the wrongdoing doesn't seem to have anything to do with her

Actually that's pretty smart.  From what I've been told and remember from working theatre load-in's it's not unusual for big names to put something small or stupid in the rider - I remember some major band used to demand no brown M&M's.  It wasn't because they cared - but if the host theater didn't read and follow the rider closely, it'd be something easy to miss....and it'd be a sign that the group needed to lookout for something bigger that had been missed that could be a pain in the ass or dangerous...ie incorrect rigging or not a proper electrical setup...or for Palin - not proper security etc.
govtcheez03:  i kind of look for it - i seek out stupidity and annoy it until it either gets better, gets banned, or goes away on its own

If she's being paid 100K to give one of her trademark rambling incoherent streams of bullshit, I'd say someone else thinks she's important, too.
