I have never baked bread.

my friend's wife has an awesome bread maker and she makes some pretty tasty stuff. My wife LOVES good bread - I was thinking about getting her a bread maker for our anniversary. Then I'll join your fancy bread-making club.

This is ours...
http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-BB-CEC20-Supreme-2-Pound-Loaf-Breadmaker/dp/B002XVUAOU/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1340226383&sr=1-6&keywords=zojirushi

It is very popular and we have had it for years.  Ours is white.

That said, I have never had bread from ours or any other bread maker that even comes close to what you can do by hand.  Thus the reason we use the maker only when we have to these days.  Making your own isn't difficult and takes about the same amount of time.  By the way that is about 3.5 hours depending on the recipe.

Try your own.  I will post a vid or two for you to see that it is not bad.

You can always buy one if you don't like what you make.  Also, borrow the maker your friends have and try it out.  We have lent ours ours out for that reason a couple of times.

Good luck.  Lots and lots of great recipes out there for makers, mixers, or by hand.

BTW, most break makers have a setting for kneading the dough which is nice.
