Title: The mp3 age :(
Post by: ahluka on September 07, 2005, 06:26:52 AM
What happened to the days when you could go online and download any song or album you wanted? Yeah it was illegal (and still is) but it was brill. Meh. I know why you can't do it but it's a pain in the arse; I can't find the latest Gorillaz album anywhere and I heard Dare on Top of The Pops the other night and it's good. Real good. I want it. :(

Hmm maybe I'll get lucky and find it tomorrow. AND MSN have put their bloody prices up, so it's now 99p to download a single track, rather than 69p. Typical.

*edit*

What's worse is the little money I do have isn't in the bank so I can't download it anyway. The bank is like right in the middle of town.

Yeah I have a lot of respect for musicians... most of them. Guess I'm just pissed I can't find it anywhere. MSN Music is actually pretty good, you can download an album for less than you find it in most shops, and somebody told me this morning about HMV Digital or something? They sound pretty good too.

Do students in the USA get anything similar to our 'Education Maintenance Allowance'? I'll have to wait (a fortnight) for my next payment till I can afford the album :(

I'm excluding P2P programs BTW; I couldn't find any sites offering them though.

I really should get all uptight and prissy about piracy, but, damn that was funny.

It's just as easy as it's ever been. I get all the new release black metal albums

Yeah but bittorrent mainly blows, it takes like a week to download a game.

Not if you're on a decent tracker.  I download stuff with BT all the time.  I routinely get speeds of 200K/s+

Yeah saying that, there was one occasion, just one, when I actually got on a good tracker and nabbed Freedom Fighters in under 40 mins. Result!

*edit*

I still find in general it's bloody slow. Where do you get your torrent files from? I go to isohunt mainly.

I don't typically download games using BT, so I couldn't tell you the best place to go.  I've used torrentspy and thepiratebay.org in the past, though.

Well I do. Is it better to have more leechers of seeders (or both)?

No, I pirate stuff, but I didn't pirate Demon Days (which is totally worth a purchase).
