last.fm vs. Pandora
« on: March 17, 2011, 09:54:09 AM »
I've used Pandora for a while now and I was curious if anyone has used last.fm and if you can compare them for me?  Any reason to switch?

I use it occasionally.  I prefer Last over Pandora.

I like last.fm because it's got an XBL client and since I've used it more it's got better stations for me.  I also like that you can skip as many songs as you want.  Pandora seems to have more music, though.

Skipping a ton would be nice but my stations on Pandora have enough variety and stuff that I don't find myself skipping much lately.  Plus Pandora has clients tons of places too.

Oh yeah, I know they do.  For example, Pandora's got a BB client but last.fm doesn't.  That's why it's nice to have both :)

I stipulated occasionally because I couldn't give you a good why.  I seem to remember really digging LastFM.  I don't use either much anymore.  Boo.

my wife uses last.fm because pandora is blocked at work but last isn't.
I use pandora because I've never tried anything else.  I like pandora. I'd consider paying for it if I ever actually got close to listening for 40 hours a month.

OK, this is just badass.  Can you pick an artist and have it suggest other music like Pandora?  Like, i see the default 'stations', but can you create your own station, not just a playlist?

Actually, I guess those 'stations' are just jumping points and approving or disapproving (and even adding songs) probably adjusts those stations to your liking?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the ability to go back to previous songs, plus fast forwarding and rewinding.  Very freaking cool.
