Black music as in (generally or originally or primarily) created by blacks not as in only allowed to listen to by blacks.

I know what it means but that doesn't make it a not-stupid designation.  Almost all modern popular music was originally created by blacks, so it seems like a silly name.

I think muzak and country should be called "white music".  Techno/electronica is now "euronoise"

If you lived here then yes you would have to.

In 1979, one of the firsts laws passed by Maggie Thatcher (bless her cotton socks) was the banning of all 'Music Of Black Origin'. She (quite correctly) felt it was creating a grave and dangerous sub-culture of hate and violence, especially towards women (or 'bitches' as they are referred to). It all got very nasty and culminated in the Brixton riots of '81 at which point the law was changed to only apply to white people.
