Billy Joel
« on: April 16, 2006, 10:02:07 AM »
We went to see him in concert Friday night.  I've never been a "huge" fan, but I like his stuff.  My wife and her family are really into him.  He's getting older, and we thought it might not be that great of a show, but the guy was dancin around, tellin all kinds of jokes, and singin his ass off.  Great show if any of you get a chance to see him.

What songs did he play?
If I was just a wee bit closer I'd go as well.

The Billy Joel.

He basically played all the hits... (piano man was the final encore), little italian restruant, pressure, the "lion king" song... the big ones.  I don't know the name of all of them, but if you've heard them he probably played them and a few more.  The concert was damn near 3 hours long and he didn't take any breaks, unless you count the part where his roadie came out and sang "Highway to Hell" and Billy just played a guitar in the background.  (yes, weird)

I should also add... if you plan to go, plan on paying through the nose.  Tickets for my wife and I were $200+

Umm... actually that was about 7 rows from the top of the building (about as far away as you can get) and that didn't include parking or dinner.

wow, do you think he's got to charge so much after he lost all his money thanks to his accountant?

I don't know... he did mention something about "needing the money" and he kind of chuckled.  I wasn't aware that he lost a bunch of money.  But that's not really too far off the standard price for a show like that.  We went to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra in December and it was around $130 or so for those tickets for the both of us.

That's not bad though, although I personally would need to be paid far more than $200 to watch Billy Joel.

Wait, you don't mean.... nah, can't be.

Not a Billy Joel fan?  I honestly thought he sounded better the other night than other times I've heard him.  His voice has gotten a little deeper and it sounds more soothing.

Not a fan, not not a fan. Just indifferent I guess.
