Finally got some time to play with the new toy last night. Here's my basic thoughts:
The keyboard is actually really easy to type on, not a whole lot different from a regular keyboard *except* for the space bar. The space bar is small and a little too close to the rest of the keys so I occasionally don't hit it hard enough to register.
The size and weight are great, you almost wouldn't even notice it in a backpack.
Haven't had a chance to test battery life yet, that's next on the list.
Windows 7. Seems like an improvement over previous iterations of Windows. There were definitely fewer things popping up at me which I liked. Other than that it seems pretty simple which I like. It's absolutely ridiculous that you can't change the desktop background in the Starter version. The other thing I didn't like was the touch pad scroll, it didn't work with all apps and was very jumpy.
Windows 7 is now permanently gone (hope I don't need to make a warranty claim!) and I've installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR). I have to say that UNR blows windows away for a netbook distro, it's so easy to use and everything worked out-of-the-box (wireless, sound, webcam, ...). The desktop interface is really slick, oddly, it's even more flashy than windows but thankfully not in an annoying pop-up sort of way. The track pad scrolling works a lot better too. Kudos to UNR, they really did it right.
Here's a vid that shows a bit of the interface, highly recommended if you get a netbook:
