Ubuntu 10: Windows 7 device issues

I plugged my HTC HD7 in via usb, and nothing. Some quick looking around and i found a thread saying Windows 7 Mobile was designed to prevent anyone not using Windows from accessing it. Someone mentioned maybe using a "samba server over wireless".

I have the HD7 connected to my home network, but beyond that I'm getting nowhere on figuring out how to access it.

Any ideas?

Buy a different phone.

Why did you go with a Windows phone in the first place?

MS released a beta mac client that works pretty well (I use it for my ZuneHD). Don't know about linux though.

I imagine I could do it with vbox but that used to be such a pain with iphone
