The official forecast is a wide range of 12-24 inches, although it looks like my specific location would be closer to the higher end of that.

The thing that sucks is that their so wrapped up in the hype (which is ok, 'cause its a big deal) that they're being very ambigous about the specifics and timeline.  Like, first they said it was going to start tomorrow morning, but the national weather services implies that it won't be blizzard-like until after midnight.  So I don't even know if I should go to work tomorrow or not?

...BLIZZARD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

* LOCATIONS...NORTHERN CONNECTICUT.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW WITH POTENTIAL FOR BLIZZARD
  CONDITIONS.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 18 TO 24 INCHES.

* TIMING...LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY MORNING. THE SNOW WILL
  INCREASE IN AREAL COVERAGE FRIDAY AFTERNOON...
WITH THE
  HEAVIEST OCCURRING FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL
  FOR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. THE WORST OF THE STORM WILL BE FRIDAY
  NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL RATES OF 2 TO 3 INCHES
  PER HOUR POSSIBLE. TRAVEL MAY BECOME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE WITH
  BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* WINDS...NORTH 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

emphasis added -- so it kinda sounds like the nasty part of the storm doesn't hit until pretty late. Do I go to work tomorrow? It wont be snowing in the morning and, at the end of the work day, it will have been snowing all day but won't be blizzarding out.  It sounds survivable (if not really sucky).  If I stay home I have to take a PTO day - of which I have very little to spare.

Looks like I'll be able to finish my regular work day right before the storm starts picking up (1pm). If all of CT is supposed to get over a foot though, I'd try to take at least 1/2 PTO.

We're supposed to get a foot or so. I'll be working from home tomorrow anyway.

I say go to work. If it starts getting bad (on the weather report or out the window), maybe you can leave early.

they closed the office after all! I think the media hype, coupled with the number of people in our 20-person office who already said they would call out, convinced the power's that be!

We got about 10 - 15cm overnight and will get another 10 today. Not too bad. My wife just left to run some errands, I'd prefer if she stayed home but she's stubborn. I'm not so worried about her, we have AWD, snow tires and traction control. I'm more worried about the other people who forget how to drive every time it snows.

that said, a little piece of me really wanted to head out in the snow just to see how the new vehicle performs =)  Not that I'd push it too hard or anything, I dont' want to be one of those people.

Supposed to get ~13" here total according to NWS: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/stormtotalprecip.php

All the schools around here have early dismissals too.

I think Sandy had a really big impact in our area for how people are reacting to big storms. Yesterday there were lines at all the gas stations I passed by and people seemed like they were losing their minds.

We are supposed to get an inch or two and I don't think it is related to the same storm.

11" as of 5 am. Might have a few more snow showers in the morning, but for the most part over.

its still snowing and I can't even guess how much snow we have because of the drifting.  Probably 2 feet though, some cars in my parking lot are completely covered in wind driven dunes.  There will be pictures.

 We were going to drive to NJ to day to meet up with my father-in-law.  I don't think we'll be able to dig out. Also, the roads are all closed by decree so even if we could dig out I don't know when we can legally leave!
