So I am planning to move back to the states....
« on: July 02, 2008, 09:40:21 PM »
As you might already know i moved to the DR about 5 years ago; well now it's time to go back to the states; I hope to move back in about 2 months. Am still trying to decide where to move to.  What do you guys suggest? I am looking for a place with a lot of IT jobs.

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

I hear Scottsdale, AZ is the new silicon valley (or am I off by 5 years already?)

Obviously California.

We have a pretty good job market here in the twin cities, MN (more so minneapolis and the west/southwest suburbs). I've heard TX is pretty good too though and New York is being dubbed silicon alley.

Thanks guys;
i put my resume on dice last week and i've gotten some calls already; Not sure how to go about it; being that i am currently in another country makes it tough for interviews; I definitely want a place that's cold, for some reason i want to experience that for a while.

There might be some IT in Colorado (Denver and it's suburbs). We had an office there until they all got laid off. :(

I don't know how accurate this is: http://salary.com/

Never answer this question.  Turn it around and ask them what they normally offer for that type of position within the company.  If you answer it, you're either going to be above what they want to pay or below what they were expecting.  In either case, you're likely to get screwed.  If you're forced, give them a range based on the position and the area (do your homework).
