InstallShield on my brother's computer
« on: December 26, 2008, 01:42:28 AM »
So my brother asked me to look at his computer as it has been going slow the last few weeks.  Well I take a look at the task manager and take a look at the CPU usage and even when idle it is bouncing constantly between 10% and 100% while memory is staying steady.

Tracked it down to two processes (agent.exe and another one I don't remember fully) both of which trace back to InstallShield's UpdateManager.  I took a look and found some sites about how to remove it but I couldn't find anything about how to just disable it so that it could still be ran manually.

Anyone have an ideas?  Should I just kill the app?  It only seems to be used by roxio media manager for his blackberry but he isn't worried about keeping that completely up to date.
