Had a crappy run yesterday. It was in the high seventies and my body is just not ready for any kind of warmth yet.  I was supposed to do 2x3mi @ 7:50/mi, but blew up on the way back and had to walk a bit.  I also ran too hard on the way out, which I'm sure didn't help.  First rep at a 7:36 pace, second at a 8:06.  Felt a lot harder than that.

On the plus side, I hit 150 miles for the month, so that's cool.  Gonna enjoy this rest day.

38.1 miles last week, capped off with a 5K beer run (awesome), a 6 mile stroller run (less awesome, but still ok), and way too fast 10 miler yesterday afternoon.

If I can run my half anything like I did my run yesterday, I'm going to get my 1:45.

That's my goal for my half on June 1.  A 1:45 half is an 8:00 pace

You guys. You guys.  There is a 45 mile long rail trail 2 minutes from my house and I have never used it before yesterday.  How dumb is that.

Do you nap on it? I would use it for napping.

I was quite lazy/bad last week and skipped my runs on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.  No good excuse.

Saturday: 12 miles on the schedule, I did my regular morning long run routine (up early, bagel + PB, coffee, 5 hour energy, poop) but still felt like garbage for the first 4-5 miles of the run.  I was having trouble breathing and finding my groove.  I was still running decently, but felt pretty terrible.  I finally settled in after I stopped for a minute to pee and just concentrated on running easy after I got going again.  After 8 or so miles, I realized that I had misjudged my distances and would get home at about 12.5 miles.  I also realized that I had been hitting pretty consistent 8:30-8:40 miles so if I pushed it a little, I could PR a half.  So I did :) Hit a 1:52:00 half, and that was including 2 pee breaks and stopping for traffic a couple times.  That's a 1:38 PR on a run where I felt slow and crummy for almost the first hour.

Last night I just did 6 after Sammy went to bed.  I badly misjudged how close we were to sunset and ran the last couple miles in the dark.  Finally starting to get a little more used to the heat + humidity

yayyyy!  You've got lots of time.  What are your goals (trick question, your goal is to finish) and what's the race like?

I finally commuted to work on my bike today, hooray! I will have to leave it here though.  Gonna rain tonight and I've got meetings until 5

Ohhhh, I've been planning to start biking to work too! I need to get my bike out of storage and ready for riding. It's about 6k for me and uphill to work. That'll make coming home easy but will also make for some sweaty mornings.

Yeah, I didn't realize that my office is like 100' lower than my house.  Riding home will be interesting.

I think that has been one of the biggest reasons I couldn't get into biking to work.  I can't ride slow enough to not sweat and most offices don't have a shower or anything to defunk once I get there.
