Help Converting Database
« on: October 26, 2005, 10:54:18 AM »
Help!  I have a First Choice database that I need to convert.  It is a very old database file format and I've been trying to convert this thing manually (writing my own), but the format is awful.

Out of the two apps I've found that will convert these databases, one is $129 and the other is free, but is designed to work on a Linux box (of which I don't have access to right now.

http://www.acii.com/fcdb.htm  - non-free version (I've used the trial and it works great)
http://first2html.sourceforge.net - free version but I can't get it to work and don't have Linux.

Can someone possibly open my eyes to the format of this thing or maybe download the second program and convert it for me?  It needs to end up in Access, but I'd be happy with whatever half-decent format you can get it to.  I'll have to email you the file.

Please... I'm begging anyone that will help me out.  This is a one time shot.

Alright... never mind.  I emailed the guy from sourceforge and he sent me the link to the actual project page and that had a working executable.  I was able to get it into Excel and then into Access (I hope that's not the final resting place, but whatever).
