So did anyone else notice that during the course of this great $5 foot long special deal that Subway has now jacked up the prices of their cheap (<$5) subs? I noticed this at the store the other day that my cheap spicy Italian is now $5 instead of $4.79 or whatever is used to be. I mentioned to my boss that they special was a pretty good scam to cover them raising the prices of their cheap subs.
Now they have all the chap subs on the "$5 everyday" menu and when the special is over the other subs will go back to regular price (or higher, their probably jacking those prices up too) but us fans of the cheaper subs now have to pay more.
Nice smoke screen Subway. Kudos on the marketing.

theres a few that were under 5 before the promo. Granted they didnt go up a whole lote, but they still pulled a slight of hand

I think he's talking about a 6".

Well doesn't it just mean they're going to bring up the prices of footlongs too? Last time I went, the 6" subs were still 4.79 or whatever, but maybe it was a recent change.

No, that was the foot long price. Around here subs like the meatball, veggie delight and the spicy Italian (and I think Turkey breast) were all under $5. The meatball was way under. It was the cheapest sub but now it's $5 too.

I'm pretty sure the meatball is >$3 for a 6" (just bought one yesterday, in fact) so I doubt that it was under $5 before. I suppose it's possible that it varies by location though

The subways I go to all have the promotion listed as "$5 or less" and the cheaper subs remain the same price as before :dunno:

I thought the scam was that 6" prices were raised at the same time that 12" prices were lowered to $5, so when the promotion is over nobody will notice that the 6" prices are higher. :scratchhead:

I wouldn't say grody, but I'd take any sandwich place over subway. The only reason I go is that it's the only fast food on campus here.

Quizno's has $5 larges, too ($7 or $9 for nicer sammiches).

Im not big on quizno's. I mean its pretty damn good, especially that roast beef dip one, but it never fills me. Same sized subs at subway do. its weird

Hmm, a 6" Meatball on sub-of-the day promotion is £2 ($3.80) over here. Its £2.80 normally and £4.50 ($9.10) for a 12" one. Sucks to be British!
