Anyone notice that Gold is back in style (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/18-home-design-trends-for-2018_us_5a4e774ce4b0ee59d41c0922)? 10 years ago it was so tacky and dated to have gold furnishings and jewelry; now its apparently a thing again? I blame Trump.
That's not really why I started this thread. I really just wanted an excuse to share this facebook status from one of my deep-south relatives on the 4th of July:
Can’t wait till I go to Disney in September. They have the best fireworks that beat all other fireworks. No one does fireworks like Disney. Once you see Disney fireworks none other can beat it.
Is that not worded like a Trump tweet. SMH

Interesting to hear you beating up Trump. I sort of assumed you were ok with him.
That's definitely a trump-ism.
Oh, and my wife, who hates gold, has several rose gold necklaces and rings that I've given her in the past few years (her recommendations, not my picking).
-
Actually, I blame Apple. Nobody would know about rose gold without them and thus less likely gold would be a thing again.
-
My wife started liking gold again (after decades of silver only) probably about 5 years ago, but if you convinced her it was because of Trump she'd stop immediately.
-
You should subtly drop hints.

does she wear just one or two pieces of gold at a time or paint herself entirely in gold? If it's the former, she's Trump free
-
My wife is definitely the former. She'd also immediately stop wearing all of it if it somehow became related to Trump.
-
my wife is allergic to gold - gets skin rash.
-
Mine gets a rash some times if it's not sterling silver.
-
Mine can't wear earrings of any type but it is just her ears. Other jewelry is not an issue.
-
If I remember correctly, and I am too lazy to Google it, the allergic reaction is not to the gold or I think silver. It is to the nickel blended in as a hardener. So certain jewelry metallurgic blending is worse than others.
-
My wife has bought all the nickel free/not supposed to bother anyone stuff and she still can't keep it in her ears for more than 5 minutes. It's odd.

Buy her 24K then, cheapskate!
:D

When I say she has tried everything, I mean everything, including 24K. :p
