What is the best way to get Photoshop CS5 without paying 699??  Can anyone help me out?

If you only need it for short term use you could "subscribe" (lease a user license from Adobe) for $45 a month; $35 if you pay for 12 months in advance.

Also, CS6 is coming out very very soon.

I didn't know that.  That's pretty cool actually.

No interest in subscribing.  This would be a long term thing.

Anyone know what the pricing would be on a student basis?  Ethic, would you mind doing that for me?

I was just about to mention the subscription option.

Also, Adobe is offering some ridiculous discount right now for students/educators. Photoshop for $40 and Master Suite for $180.

if you go the student route, let me know how the registration goes.  I've been meaning to buy a copy of dreamweaver (my cousin's wife is a student) but I'm scared to because I'm nervous about the authentication.

edit:

I'm guessing thats because CS6 is coming out so soon.  like in a month or two (or three.) We were going to upgrade from 5 to 5.5 at work because of the phoneGap integration in Dreamweaver but the Adobe rep apparently recommended we just wait.

Adobe.com is referencing 199 for the student edition... where are you seeing $40?  Granted, that's the extended version but I can't find just PS.

Ok, so apparently there isn't any student pricing for just PS ... so it would be 199.  Hmm..

The discount code is SAVE80EDU and ends 3/3. I'm still a student, but I might use it myself so I have a legitimate copy. But then again, a large majority of my friends are students/teachers that have no use for Adobe products.
