Gabby La La

I just saw Gabby La La (with Les Claypool) last night at Joe's Pub in NYC... and she was positively brilliant.  She's got a CD coming out soon and I can't wait to pick it up.

I can't really categorize her to give you an idea of what she sounds like -- if you're aware of Claypool's stuff, though, you know the kind of eccentric sound that he's into; and La La fits into that sort of intangiblity.  Throughout the course of the night, she played accordian, sitar, ukelele, guitar, toy piano, as well as this insane Moog synth that worked by bringing your hands closer to or farther away from antennas.  (EDIT: It's called a theremin -- check out thereminworld.com if you're interested in it at all.)

I highly recommend her.  Pictures of her from other shows can be found at WildLupin.com and her site is GabbyLaLa.com.
