my inspiron 600m took a giant shit last night...it just fried...stopped working...and it will not power up...

this is the second major problem i've had with the computer.  i had to replace the Intel wireless card a couple of monts ago...not to mention the various minor headaches this relatively young computer (< two years old) has caused me...

i'm totally pissed at Dell.  They manufacture crap.  So what did i do?  I bought another one...an Inshitiron 6000.  whoohoo.

:(  I have a 600m... works like a charm except that it doesn't always attach to my wireless router at full bandwidth.

My Inspiron 8200 did something like that about a year after I got it. Turns out it was a bad motherboard. I was still under my extended warrantee so I got it fixed but I was still without my lappy for a week. Since then it's been fine but my fan is a bit noisy from time to time.
I've decided to just get a new battery for mine to hold me over for the next few months. I'm hoping some new models will come out that I actually want.

I hear ya...i REALLY didn't want another Dell after this, but I can't afford a notebook with what i need in it (specifically the ram and 7200 rpm SATA disk) from any other major manufacturer...The thinkpad's did look nice...especially the new T60's...but sheesh...spendy

good luck with it Ober...

i'm wondering if the repair to the wireless card led to a short of some sort...

I'm not kidding. Apparently you must think HP laptops arent so good, but tell that to myself and the 8 or 10 people i know who have them and have never had an issue, ever.

I have a Compaq Laptop made by HP, and it's a great machine. Very reliable.
