I don't know about recipes but serious eats is terrible at 2am when you're hungry. It makes you want to eat your screen.

I have an epicurious app for my ipad. I haven't really used it enough to get a good sense of it, but it seems pretty good.

I usually google what I want and to make and look through a few sites then figure out what combination works best.  I've also had really good luck on product-specific websites that tout their own products in recopies... like Franks Red Hot or Frenchs Onions.  The key, I've found, is to read peoples comments and adjust as needed.

I made a meatloaf the other night (my first attempt) and didn't read the comments first that suggested adding worcestershire sauce or something more to flavor the meat which ended up being a little bland in my final product.

I've also come to realize that plagiarism is rampant as many recipes are exactly the same.

I don't know which sites I'd recommend but I'm not a fan of cooks.com despite its high search engine ranking.

Google recipes is pretty awesome. You can search for something, then in the "ingredients" drop down you can specify if you have or don't have specific ingredients and it updates the search results (faceted search).
