Made a camera strap
« on: March 04, 2016, 08:50:57 PM »
So I bought some supplies a little while ago to make a paracord strap for my a6000 after watching this video:

I saw some of these on various cameras when I was researching stuff and thought they looked pretty cool. You can buy them online for reasonable amount but paracord is super cheap and it seemed pretty easy to make. Quite a few videos out there on different stitches but this one is a cobra stitch I guess. The video uses a carabiner and a key chain ring. After making my first one (with an old test bendwood ring) and a small carabiner I realized you don't really need the carabiner so I removed it. Then I realized the ring was simply in place from a loop and if I made the loop just a bit bigger I could make it with just paracord. So, I made a second one that's just paracord. I used the same method as the video above but started it around my thumb until I got a few stitches done and then just the same process. Super easy and quick. Here's the result:

that's pretty cool. I enjoyed making bracelets and stuff from paracord, but haven't made any in a while - but I do have a ton of cordage left over now!
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
