Video Capture Software
« on: April 07, 2007, 12:47:37 AM »
I borrowed a Sony DCR-DVD201 (mini-dvd handycam) when I went on vacation a few years ago..

I want to rip the the dvds onto my computer to do some editing, but am running into a few problems.

There are no drivers on the SONY site for the handycam, and when I plug in the handycam via USB, it doesnt recognize the handycam (even if I get it to find new h/w, it wont)

I was hoping I could use some image capture software to try and extract the video.

Any suggestions on what software I can use, and why the handycam isnt being recognized?

Thanks!

Steve

everything i found said to use the europe soney website, and under drivers it linked to this

http://www.imagemixer.com/e/sony/handycam/index.htm

Dont knw if it will help or not. The problem is trying to use Nero, Roxio, Movie Maker etc will be tough if the pc doesnt know its a handycam

What happens if you put the DVD into the computer?

(I'm not being an ass, I just got a similar model and am curious how to edit the movies so I can edit out my inlaws before giving the movies to my parents).

Hey Rod, thats the only software I came across as well, but I cant get a copy of it.

I put it into my computer, doesnt even seen to recognize anything off the DVD, although I think it did before..

Ill keep you updated if I figure anything out!

Did you finalize it in the camera?

Do you have to finalize it before editing the videos on your computer?
