Upgraded To Gibbon
« on: October 19, 2007, 11:45:20 PM »
I just finished upgrading my dual boot install of Ubuntu to 'Gibbon'. It took "forever" to download, guess quite a few people are making the switch. I still want badly to make it my default environment. With the new multi screen stuff that just about does it for me. If the networking issues I was having are fixed (problems with my wireless after suspending) then I think I'm all set.
I'm planning on making a VMWare image of my Windows setup to run the few programs I haven't found alternatives for (pretty much just Visio).
I'm also going to see if they've got new firewire drivers for my Audiofire12. That'd be a huge bonus, then I'd move my recording stuff over to Linux too.

Oh, this 3D desktop stuff is so cool. I'm still trying to figure out all the settings and controls and stuff but this is awesome.

Odd, guess I read what I wanted to.

Well, my wireless network still doesn't like coming back up after suspend. :(

Mine's OK. It wiped out my config for downloading hotmail in evolution...gaim is gone, but pidgin is the same, my nvida driver isn't working to well, need to play with that.

If anything my wireless is less temperamental than before.

It did have real problems with my screen resolution. It came back at 800*600, and when I jacked it it it screwed up. I reconfigured xserver and now it's fine.

Not issue free, but no more troublesome than upgrading windows

I think I may have found a fix.

It seemed to work the first time I tried it so we'll see if it keeps working. That's the last real issue I've got using the system.

Browsing this board on the Gibbon live CD now...man it looks pretty!

That install button is looking pretty tempting I have to say!
